Just as the commandment 'Thou shalt not kill' sets a clear limit in order to safeguard the value of human life, today we also have to say 'thou shalt not' to an economy of exclusion and inequality. Such an economy kills. How can it be that it is not a news item when an elderly homeless person dies of exposure, but it is news when the stock market loses two points?

The security of faith does not make us motionless or close us off, but sends us forth to bear witness and to dialogue with all people.

When we read about Creation in Genesis, we run the risk of imagining God was a magician, with a magic wand able to do everything. But that is not so. Evolution in nature is not opposed to the notion of Creation, because evolution presupposes the creation of beings that evolve.

I don’t know if it is all (man’s fault) but the majority is, for the most part, it is man who continuously slaps down nature.
