The only freedom that man ever has is when he becomes a slave to Jesus Christ.

If God did not act first, no one would be saved.

He is intangible and invisible. But His work is more powerful than the most ferocious wind. The Spirit brings order out of chaos and beauty out of ugliness. He can transform a sin-blistered man into a paragon of virtue. The Spirit changes people. The Author of life is also the Transformer of life.

Sometimes we behave and perform with our lives, not for God, but for an audience.

The sin of fallen man is this: Man seeks the benefits of God while at the same time fleeing from God Himself.

The idea of being the Substitute in offering an atonement to satisfy the demands of God’s law for others was something Christ understood as His mission from the moment He entered this world and took upon Himself a human nature. He came from heaven as the gift of the Father for the express purpose of working out redemption as our Substitute, doing for us what we could not possibly do for ourselves.

To be conformed to this world is to risk the loss of one’s eternal soul.
