Prayer is to the Christian what breath is to life, yet no duty of the Christian is so neglected.

We are cosmic traitors. We must recognize this problem within ourselves if we are to grasp the necessity of the cross.

Scratching people where they itch and addressing their 'felt needs' is a stratagem of the poor steward of the oracles of God. This was the recipe for success for the false prophets of the Old Testament.

One does not structure the church to meet the felt needs and desires of the tares. The purpose of corporate assembly, which has its roots in the Old Testament, is for the people of God to come together corporately to offer their sacrifices of praise and worship to God. So the first rule of worship is that it be designed for believers to worship God in a way that pleases God.

Prayer does change things, all kinds of things. But the most important thing it changes is us.

A loving God who has no wrath is no God. He is an idol of our own making as much as if we carved Him out of stone.

Doctrine does matter.
