But the blessing Christ promised, the blessing of great reward, is a reward of grace. The blessing is promised even though it is not earned. Augustine said it this way: Our rewards in heaven are a result of God's crowning His own gifts.
R. C. SproulThe only reason why I'm a Christian is because I'm a gift of the Father to the Son, not because of anything I've ever done.
R. C. SproulWe have a tendency to think of GOD being glorified only in the manifestation of his mercy----- He is just as glorified by His justice.
R. C. SproulA married person does not live in isolation. He or she has made a promise, a pledge, a vow, to another person. Until that vow is fulfilled and the promise is kept, the individual is in debt to his marriage partner. That is what he owes. 'You owe it to yourself' is not a valid excuse for breaking a marriage vow but a creed of selfishness.
R. C. SproulIf you donโt delight in the fact that your Father is holy, holy, holy, then you are spiritually dead. You may be in a church. You may go to a Christian school. But if there is no delight in your soul for the holiness of God, you donโt know God. You donโt love God. Youโre out of touch with God. Youโre asleep to his character.
