I would like to beg of you, dear friend, as well as I can, to have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything.

For poems are not, as people think, simply emotions (one has emotions early enough)-they are experiences.

Yet everything that touches us, me and you, takes us together like a violin's bow, which draws one voice out of two separate strings.

My eyes already touch the sunny hill. Going far ahead of the road I have begun. So we are grasped by what we cannot grasp; it has inner light, even from a distance- and charges us, even if we do not reach it, into something else, which, hardly sensing it, we already are; a gesture waves us on answering our own wave... but what we feel is the wind in our faces.

Your life will still find its own paths from there, and that they may be good, rich, and wide is what I wish for you, more than I can say.
