When I got into my early 20s, I was going to bed one nightI was still drinking, still using drugs, and probably was drunk or high or both when I just picked up the Bible and started reading to go to sleep. I was amazed at how well I slept, but even beyond that, the next day, there was this peace of mind that was still there that I wasnt used to.

To me, country music tells a story about, and deals with, the way people live their lives and what they do.

You know, I think you have to sound right singing whatever it is that you sing.

I've learned the importance of loving what you do. I have also learned more patience due to the nature of the music business.

I don't know whether schooling would have helped me get farther along in music at this time. I doubt it would have.
