When Mama prayed, lives were changed. Not much more than five foot tall, but mountains big and small crumbled all away.

I think every once in a while country has lost its way, but found its way back. It's always going to drift away from the traditional side, but then find a way to return. There's room for all kinds of influences be it pop, blues, gospel or whatever. But I will always say that I think we need more traditional country music coming down the pike.

I never thought I'd be a good influence on anybody with anything I did or said or sang.

I was in church a little bit as a very young kid, but, as they say in the South, 'it didnt take.' None of it took with me.

You continue to evolve with each album that goes by and, as an artist, you continue to expand with every recording project.

There's a constant contradiction between what feels good and what feels right. But you live with decisions that you make in your life.
