A good night sleep, or a ten minute bawl, or a pint of chocolate ice cream, or all three together, is good medicine.

Most of my stories are ideas in action. In other words, I get a concept, and I let it run away. I find a character to act out the idea. And then the story takes care of itself.

I define science fiction as the art of the possible. Fantasy is the art of the impossible. And fantasy comes along and says, 'We're going to break all the laws of physics.' ... Most people don't realize it, but the series of films which have made more money than any other series of films in the history of the universe is the James Bond series. They're all science fiction, too - romantic, adventurous, frivolous, fantastic science fiction!

Looking back over a lifetime, you see that love was the answer to everything.

Maybe the books can get us half out of the cave. They just might stop us from making the same damm insane mistakes!
