This drive to always want more is based on the misconceptions that having more will make me more happy, more important, and more secure, but all three ideas are untrue. Possessions only provide temporary happiness. Because things do not change, we eventually become bored with them and then want newer, bigger, better versions.

The Bible makes it really clear that if I am not receptive to the grace of God I am headed toward wrath.

I forgive. First, because I've been forgiven by God. Second, unforgiveness makes me miserable. And third, I'm going to need more forgiveness in the future. So we don't forgive for their benefit. We actually forgive for ours.

Humility is not denying your strengths, humility is being honest about your weaknesses.

Life is too short to learn everything by personal experience.

God teaches us to love by putting some unlovely people around us.

The more you care about the powerless, the more power you have. The more you serve those with no influence, the more influence God gives you. The more you humble yourself, the more you're honored by others.
