No one ever came to Christ because they knew themselves to be of the elect. It is quite true that God has of his mere good pleasure elected some to everlasting life, but they never knew it until they came to Christ. Christ nowhere invites the elect to come to Him. The question for you is not, Am I one of the elect? But, Am I one of the human race?

A glance at Christ will save, but it is the gazing at Christ that sanctifies.

Affliction brings out graces that cannot be seen in a time of health. It is the treading of the grapes that brings out the sweet juices of the vine; so it is affliction that draws forth submission, weanedness from the world, and complete rest in God. Use afflictions while you have them.

Learn much of the Lord Jesus. For every look at yourself, take ten looks at Christ. He is altogether lovely.

No amount of activity in the King's service will make up for neglect of the King Himself.

The problem now is (that) the foods of poor quality are the ones coming in from home from teachers and staff, used for birthday parties and for things like booster sales.

I earnestly long for more grace and personal holiness, and more usefulness.
