The inspiration of the Bible depends upon the ignorance of the gentleman who reads it.

He who commends the brutalities of the past, sows the seeds of future crimes.

There is no evidence that God ever interfered in the affairs of man. The hand of earth is stretched uselessly towards heaven. From the clouds there comes no help.

The minister asks, 'What right have you to hope? It is sacrilegious to you.' Hope for as much better as you can.'

The only reason why we wish to exchange thoughts is that we are different. If we were all the same, we would die dumb. No thought would be expressed after we found that our thoughts were precisely alike. We differ-our thoughts are different. Therefore the commerse that we call conversation.

Shakespeare has done far more for the world than the Bible.

We need men with moral courage to speak and write their real thoughts, and to stand by their convictions, even to the very death.
