I kind of wish people didn’t know who I am, that I could just lie, say I’m a speechwriter for Obama. This is what I said before Twilight. And then Obama came along and picked up all these young writers. I found out this guy, Jon Favreau — who’s not the actor Jon Favreau — is writing for him. And I was like, Wow, I wonder if the people who thought I was bullshitting at the time are like, ‘Oh my god. That guy! That kid who was drunk in some bar actually wrote the health care bill!’
Robert PattinsonSmaller movies are great because you don't have to argue with so many people all the time. But really I like arguing so there's a balance either way.
Robert PattinsonI hope there is such a thing. I guess it would be quite scary to find a soul mate when you're young because you're probably going to mess it up.
Robert PattinsonI think that's just a general English attitude [being abusive]. I did the same thing to famous people.
Robert PattinsonI think so much of a director's job is just to convince you that what you're doing is worthwhile. "Yes, this does mean something, we're not just messing around." Even though at the end of the day it's a film. But at the time it's something else. I don't feel like I'm making a film, I'm confronting things in myself. I don't know what it is. So if someone is enthusiastic enough to convince you that it's important it's kind of magical.
