The time has come to turn to God and reassert our trust in Him.

I, in my own mind, have always thought of America as a place in the divine scheme of things that was set aside as a promised land...Any person with the courage, with the desire to tear up their roots, to strive for freedom, to attempt and dare to live in a strange and foreign place, to travel halfway across the world was welcome here.

I have always thought of government as a kind of organism with an insatiable appetite for money, whose natural state is to grow forever unless you do something to starve it.

The more the plans fail, the more the planners plan.

Some may try to tell us that this is the end of an era. But what they overlook is that in America, every day is a new beginning. For this is the land that has never become, but is always in the act of becoming.

The bill's a textbook example of special interest pork barrel politics at work, and I have no choice but to veto it.

I believe no challenge is more important to the character of America than restoring the right to life to all human beings.
