The Bible can touch our hearts, order our minds, refresh our souls.

We must never remain silent in the face of bigotry. We must condemn those who seek to divide us. In all quarters and at all times, we must teach tolerance and denounce racism, anti-Semitism and all ethnic or religious bigotry wherever they exist as unacceptable evils. We have no place for haters in America -- none, whatsoever.

I think there are some things ... that may even be distorted in the practice, such as some affirmative action programs becoming quota systems. And I'm old enough to remember when quotas existed in the United States for the purpose of discrimination, and I don't want to see that happen again.

Free enterprise is a rough and competitive game. It is a hell of a lot better than a government monopoly.

We have to realize that this country in its private sector has been fighting the most successful war on poverty the world has seen for the last 200 years.

Where free unions and collective bargaining are forbidden, freedom is lost.

America is a melting pot, and education has been a mainspring for our democracy and freedom, a means of providing gifts of knowledge and opportunity to all citizens, no matter how humble their background, so they could climb higher, help build the American dream, and leave a better life for those who follow.
