The bill's a textbook example of special interest pork barrel politics at work, and I have no choice but to veto it.

We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we will always be free.

Unless and until it can be proven that an unborn child is not a living human being, can we justify assuming without proof that it isn't? No one has yet offered such proof; indeed, all the evidence is to the contrary.

Simple morality dictates that unless and until someone can prove the unborn human is not alive, we must give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it is (alive). And, thus, it should be entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Concentrated power has always been the enemy of liberty.

Now I realize it's fashionable in some circles to believe that no one in government should encourage others to read the Bible. That we're told we'll violate the constitutional separation of church and state established by the Founding Fathers and the First Amendment. The First Amendment was not written to protect people and their laws from religious values. It was written to protect those values from government tyranny.

The economic welfare of all our people must ultimately stem not from government programs, but from the wealth created by a vigorous private sector.
