Are you entitled to the fruits of your own labor or does government have some presumptive right to spend and spend and spend?

All systems are capitalist. It's just a matter of who owns and controls the capital -- ancient king, dictator, or private individual. We should properly be looking at the contrast between a free market system where individuals have the right to live like kings if they have the ability to earn that right and government control of the market system such as we find today in socialist nations.

And children, if your parents haven't been teaching you what it means to be an American, let 'em know and nail 'em on it. That would be a very American thing to do.

My dream is to see the day when nuclear weapons will be banished from the face of the Earth.

I think it's time we ask ourselves if we still know the freedoms that were intended for us by the Founding Fathers... Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them for ourselves.

Free enterprise is a rough and competitive game. It is a hell of a lot better than a government monopoly.

Presidents come and go. History comes and goes, but principles endure.
