I wrote 90 percent of the record in prison. A lot of people wonder, "How the hell did you do that?" I just pretty much played drums on my legs with my hands and while I did that, I would hum the guitar parts and sing the melodies of the songs.

I've been beaten, I've been bruised, I was left for dead as well.

I have learned of this great force and will never test the boundless energy of what is karma.

I don't hang out with people that are gonna get me in trouble.

I also sing about my mom leaving me a lot - a lot of kids have their moms or dads leave them, so they relate to that. I wear my heart on my sleeve, so I think that's what the kids love.

Karma is real, it balances the universe.

I've been down a long road, but I promise you, it gets better.
