We are technologically ahead of Russia and China. We can develop a nuclear shield for the United States, for Poland, and for the Czech Republic. Russia is deadly frightened of that. They have been trying to get us to give that up for 20 years since [Ronald] Reagan.

My advice would be the same advice that I gave President [George W.] Bush when he won in '04, and, kind of, wasn't followed. I think you go with the things you know you can pass.

We have to be on offense against terrorists, that we have to make it bipartisan, that it isn't about being a Democrat or a Republican. It's about being an American.

Now, people have a hard time understanding how taxes work.

One can look at John McCain and say that he's not ready to be commander-in-chief.

We want everyone to prepare themselves for the reality that we are not going to be able to recover significant numbers of people.

First thing you have to do is say to yourself what can I bring to it, what can I do that's different or - and how can I make the country better? How can I improve it?
