I would appoint judges that interpreted the Constitution rather than invented it, understood the difference between being a judge and being a legislator.

If we take back the labor unions, the legitimate businesses, eventually they become just another street gang. Spiritually, psychologically, they've always been just a street gang.

I took over a city that had two riots in four years and I had none. And they knew they couldn't riot on me. And when I saw the people on the street in New York City, I said to myself, you're breaking Giuliani's rules. You don't take my streets. You can have my sidewalks, but you don't take my streets, because ambulances have to get through there, fire trucks have to get through there.

And it's a little - very humbling to think that running for president of the United States is - for a kid from Brooklyn, it's quite a step.

I've argued in front of the Supreme Court of the United States. I've argued in almost every circuit. And I tried, as a personal lawyer and U.S. attorney, over 50 cases.

My advice would be the same advice that I gave President [George W.] Bush when he won in '04, and, kind of, wasn't followed. I think you go with the things you know you can pass.

I support security at the borders. I think security is enormously important in the post-September 11th period. I think we have to know who's coming into this country. We have to be able to identify them; we have to be able to figure out who they are.
