God bestows more consideration on the purity of the intention with which our actions are performed than on the actions themselves.

Let us leave a little room for reflection in our lives, room too for silence. Let us look within ourselves and see whether there is some delightful hidden place inside where we can be free of noise and argument. Let us hear the Word of God in stillness and perhaps we will then come to understand it.

O eternal truth and true love and beloved eternity! You are my God; to you I sigh by day and by night. And you beat back the weakness of my sight, blazing upon me with your rays, and I trembled in love and in dread.

God without us will not as we without God cannot.

Temporal punishments are suffered by some in this life only, by some after death, by some both here and hereafter, but all of them before that last and strictest judgment. But not all who suffer temporal punishments after death will come to eternal punishments, which are to follow after that judgment.
