Too often we take blessings for granted, like the sun, the air, health, and opportunity. Or we accept favors, honors, and privileges day after day as did the lepers their newfound health, without a word of thanks. We would thank the person who gives us a seat in the bus, the person who offers a ride, the friend who picks up the check after dinner, the person who does the baby-sitting, or the boy who cuts our lawn, but do we express gratitude to Him who gives us all?

There is no doubt that the life one leads, and the thoughts one thinks are registered plainly in his face.

Every Latter-day Saint should sustain, honor, and obey the constitutional law of the land in which he lives.

Humility is royalty without a crown.

Great women and men are always more anxious to serve than to have dominion.

Any excuse for non-performance, no matter how valid, weakens character.

My plea therefore is this: Let us get our instruments tightly strung and our melodies sweetly sung. Let us not die with our music still in us. Let us rather use this precious mortal probation to move confidently and gloriously upward toward the eternal life which God our Father gives to those who keep his commandments.
