I'm still in love with what I do, with the idea of making things up, so hours when I write always feel like very blessed hours to me.

THE THREE is really wonderful. A mix of Michael Crichton and Shirley Jackson, hard to put down and vastly entertaining.

Talent renders the whole idea of rehearsal meaningless; when you find something at which you are talented, you do it (whatever it is) until your fingers bleed or your eyes are ready to fall out of your head. Even when no one is listening (or reading or watching), every outing is a bravura performance, because you as the creator are happy. Perhaps even ecstatic.

Seven, Richie thought. That's the magic number. There has to be seven of us. That's the way it's supposed to be.

Disney cartoons are all rated G. It's really funny. There are kids all over the world who still have complexes over Bambi's father getting shot by the hunter and Bambi's mother getting crisped. But that's the way it's always been. This is the sort of material that appeals to kids. Kids understand it instinctively. They grip it.

Any parting could be forever, and we don't know.

The bad ideas kind of just drop out of the mix. You forget about them. The good ones stick around.
