I like to think that good people win. But even good people have other sides. Most people will slow down to get a good look at an accident, even though they won't admit it.

As a rule, I don't worry about genre. I just want to tell a good story, with characters that interest me and my readers.

You know what talent is? The curse of expectation. As a kid you have to deal with that, beat it somehow. If you can write, you think God put you on earth to blow Shakespeare away. Or if you can paint, maybe you think--I did--that God put you on earth to blow your father away.

Formula: Second Draft = First Draft minus 10%.

It's best to have your tools with you. If you don't, you're apt to find something you didn't expect and get discouraged.

I'm still in love with what I do, with the idea of making things up, so hours when I write always feel like very blessed hours to me.
