My first album was called Seven Waves, and was directly inspired by the ocean, and the ocean has been a leitmotif in my music. Nature was my inspiration even in NYC, because I needed that balance - I would travel out to nature. I loved the big city, I loved the energy, but I needed the balance.

My big problem is that I don't promote my electronic music very much because it makes my 'normal' fans angry!

When I finally bought one, the Buchla was my only piece of furniture. I lived with that thing. It was my boyfriend! I thought there was something wrong with me, because I was in love with a machine

I think for me, I had a long-standing desire to orchestrate the sunrise, and never came up with the right thing on piano. So at a certain moment, I had the revelation that the whole thing would be electronic, not traditional acoustic.

There's something to be said about all music being some translation of our languaging, our way of communicating. It's a language. This is a new language.

My studio is right on the ocean, and the sun rises right in my eyes every morning, and the energy of the sea is right there.
