You have to able to make fun of yourself. Don't take things too seriously and when people make fun of you, laugh at it.

A letdown is worth a few songs. A heartbreak is worth a few albums.

I will always believe in love and I don't care what happens to me or how many times I get my heart broken, or how many breakup songs I write, I'm always going to believe that someday I am going to meet somebody who is actually right for me and he's going to be wonderful and it's going to work out.

Always consider giving someone the benefit of the doubt. Until he establishes that this is a game... And if it's a game, then you need to win.

My experience with songwriting is usually so confessional, it's so drawn from my own life and my own stories.

I don't talk about my personal life in great detail. I write about it in my songs, and I feel like you can share enough about your life in your music to let people know what you're going through.

I dream about finding an exception and finding someone who would make me believe in love and realize that it can work out.
