In middle school, my friends decided I was weird, and they didnโt like my hair. They ditched me and talked behind my back, which is cool โ Iโm over it. [laughs] One time I called them and said, โHey, do you want to go to the Berkshire Mall?โ They all gave me excuses and said no. So I go to the mall with my mom, and donโt you know, we run into all of them. Together. Shopping. My mom could see I was about to cry, so she said, โYou know what? Weโre going to the King of Prussia mall,โ which was the mecca.
Taylor SwiftAs supportive as my hometown is, in my high school, there are people who would probably walk up to me and punch me in the face. There's a select few that will never like me. They don't like what I stand for. They don't like somebody who stands for being sober, who stands for anything happy. They're going to be negative no matter what.
Taylor SwiftIf I looked at every other girl in the entertainment industry as competition, my life would be really lonely. I wouldn't have some of the coolest friends that I'm so glad I've gotten to know.
Taylor SwiftWhen I was a teenager, my biggest lessons came from Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, George Strait, Rascal Flatts and Brad Paisley. I learned so much from opening up for those artists, and it also taught me how to treat your opening acts and make them feel like they're part of a family, not just a tour.
Taylor SwiftI like to write about relationships. I like it when my friends come over and we crowd around the piano and sing Journey songs at the top of our lungs... And I like things that make me feel seven again. I don't ever look down on people for the way they choose to have fun; it's just not necessarily the way I like to have fun.
