In school if you're different that's uncool. But I try to maintain confidence in who I am...because...you know...I don't really want to change it.

Music is art, and art is important and rare. Important, rare things are valuable. Valuable things should be paid for. It’s my opinion that music should not be free, and my prediction is that individual artists and their labels will someday decide what an album’s price point is. I hope they don’t underestimate themselves or undervalue their art.

But then you make eye contact with someone across the room and it clicks and you’re right there in love again.

You have to not only live your life in spite of people who don't understand you, you have to have more fun than they do.

I stopped reading articles about myself. Even if it's not bad, I think actively caring about people's daily perception of you makes you second-guess everything. I am very happily not paranoid right now.

If you think about human nature, our favourite pair of shoes are the ones we bought yesterday, our favourite thing is the newest thing that we have…and the thing we’ve seen the most and for the longest period of time is our reflection in the mirror, so obviously that’s going to be our least favourite thing.

It’s okay to wonder how you could try so hard and still get stomped all over. Just don’t let them change you.
