In middle school, my friends decided I was weird, and they didnโt like my hair. They ditched me and talked behind my back, which is cool โ Iโm over it. [laughs] One time I called them and said, โHey, do you want to go to the Berkshire Mall?โ They all gave me excuses and said no. So I go to the mall with my mom, and donโt you know, we run into all of them. Together. Shopping. My mom could see I was about to cry, so she said, โYou know what? Weโre going to the King of Prussia mall,โ which was the mecca.
Taylor SwiftMy first memory of loving music happened so early. We would always go to the beach in the summer and I would run from blanket to blanket, from family to family and just sing Lion King songs acapella.
Taylor SwiftI definitely know that there's somebody looking out for me, because I could never do this alone.
Taylor SwiftLive your life like you're 80 looking back on your teenager years. You know if your dad calls you at eight in the morning and asks if you want to go out for breakfast. As a teenager you're like no, I want to sleep. But as an eighty year old looking back you have that breakfast with your dad. It just little things like that, that helped me when I was a teenager in terms of making choices you won't regret.
Taylor SwiftAs the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don't let those people sidetrack you, someday, when you get where you are going, you will look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world. Thank you for this moment.
