He that seeks here any other thing but simply God and the salvation of his soul, will find nothing but trouble and sorrow.

If you bear the cross unwillingly, you make it a burden, and load yourself more heavily; but you must bear it.

Oh how swiftly the glory of the world passes away! If only the lives of these men had been as admirable as their learning, their study and reading would have been to good purpose! Love Him, and keep Him for thy Friend, who, when all go away, will not forsake thee, nor suffer thee to perish at the last.

A wise and good man will turn examples of all sorts to his own advantage. The good he will make his patterns, and strive to equal or excel them. The bad he will by all means avoid.
