It is part of my creed that the only poetry is history, could we tell it right.

The hell of these days is the fear of not getting along, especially of not making money.

A lie should be trampled on and extinguished wherever found. I am for fumigating the atmosphere when I suspect that falsehood, like pestilence, breathes around me.

History is a great dust heap.

Rightly viewed no meanest object is insignificant; all objects are as windows through which the philosophic eye looks into infinitude itself.
