If we are deeply moved by the sight of his love for us, it detaches our hearts from other would-be saviors. We stop trying to redeem ourselves through our pursuits and relationships, because we are already redeemed. We stop trying to make others into saviors, because we have a Savior.

Jesus is the only Lord who, if you receive him, will fulfill you completely, and, if you fail him, will forgive you eternally.

In the secular view, suffering is never seen as a meaningful part of life but only as an interruption.

Our culture says that feelings of love are the basis for actions of love. And of course that can be true. But it is truer to say that actions of love can lead consistently to feelings of love.

Christians necessarily believe we depend on God for everything-a prayerless Christian, then, is a contradiction in terms.

All Christians have opportunities to serve those who might never come to church or listen to a sermon.

Religious people find God useful. Gospel people find him beautiful.
