Remember back then we thought about al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan and a few other places? well, we've seen al Qaeda metastasize. It is now a global scourge. And you have the ascendancy of ISIL. The combination of those two groups -- their appeal to the lone wolfs and we see them acting in Belgium and in France and in Canada and the United States so the threat factors and the nature of the threats are far more complicated and far more serious today than on September 12, 2001.

The near-term attacks ... will either rival or exceed the 9/11 attacks... And it's pretty clear that the nation's capital and New York city would be on any list.

America is a country that will not be broken by fear. And instead, America is a country blessed with citizens marked by goodwill and great resolve.

I think it's one thing to be part of a very important group called the Senate of the United States and cast a vote. You're one of 100. I think it says even more to be a governor, where you ultimately have that political responsibility and accountability to succeed.

Following a terrorism-related event, fear and panic can be expected from both patients and health care providers.

While I think it's very important that Marco Rubio and Senator [Ted] Cruz have contributed as senators... there's no doubt in my mind that being a governor is far, far better preparation for the ultimate responsibility as president of the United States.
