Often whole days pass without my speaking to anyone, except to ask for diner or coffee. And it has been like that form the beginning.

What preys on my mind is simply this one question: what am I good for, could I not be of service or use in some way?

Even this artistic life, which we know is not real life, appears to me to be so alive and so vital that it would be a form ingratitude not to be content with it.

Let us keep courage and try to be patient and gentle. And let us not mind being eccentric, and make distinction between good and evil.

That this awareness of my own fallibility will prevent me from making many mistakes doesn't alter the fact that I'm bound to make a great many mistakes anyway. But if we fall, we get up again!

Love always causes trouble, that's true, but in its favour, it energizes.

It is with the reading of books the same as with looking at pictures; one must, without doubt, without hesitations, with assurance, admire what is beautiful.
