There are no innocent bystanders.

Most people don't see what's going on around them. That's my principal message to writers: 'For God's sake, keep your eyes open. Notice what's going on around you.'

The forward step must be made in silence. We detach ourselves from word forms - this can be accomplished by substituting for words, letters, concepts, verbal concepts, other modes of expressions: for example, color.

As soon as you have a problem, it's insoluble. These things should never have been allowed to happen.

Speaking for myself, art differs from writing in that I never know what I'm going to paint until I paint it, so it's almost like automatic writing. A writer, on the other hand, can't help but know what he's going to write, because the activity demands a degree of premeditation.

By the flaws in the picture the truth will emerge.

You see, control can never be a means to any practical end...It can never be a means to anything but more control...like junk.
