The world must be made safe for democracy.

The success of a party means little except when the nation is using that party for a large and definite purpose. No one can mistake the purpose for which the nation now seeks to use the Democratic party. It seeks to use it to interpret a change in its own plans and point of view.

We are in the presence of a new organization of society. Our life has broken away from the past.

Business underlies everything in our national life, including our spiritual life. Witness the fact that in the Lord's Prayer, the first petition is for daily bread. No one can worship God or love his neighbor on an empty stomach.

The world can be at peace only if the world is stable, and there can be no stability where the will is in rebellion, where there is not tranquility of spirit and a sense of justice, of freedom, and of right.

A man is not as big as his belief in himself; he is as big as the number of persons who believe in him.

Character, my friends, is a byproduct. It is produced in the great manufacture of daily duty.
