Just to clarify the division of labor on the show, I write the show and Alan [Poul] does everything else.
Aaron SorkinI like workplace shows and White House was a very glamorous workplace to set a show in; it appealed to a sense of romanticism and idealism that I have.
Aaron SorkinIt's certainly easy for me to make a fictional character mad about something. I can get them angry about something that I'm relatively indifferent about, just because I'm not educated on it, if I go to someone who is educated about it and is passionate about it. I find a point of fiction and then give it to them.
Aaron SorkinMy preference would have been to not go back on the air after 9\11, at all until the time felt right but that wasn't an option.
Aaron SorkinMake no mistake about it, you are dumb. Youโre a group of incredibly well-educated dumb people. I was there. We all were there. Youโre barely functional. There are some screw-ups headed your way. I wish I could tell you that there was a trick to avoiding the screw-ups, but the screw-ups, theyโre a-coming for ya. Itโs a combination of life being unpredictable, and you being super dumb.
