An idol of the mind is as offensive to God as an idol of the hand.

The idea that this world is a playground instead of a battleground has now been accepted in practice by the vast majority of Christians... The 'worship' growing out of such a view of life is as far off center as the view itself - a sort of sanctified nightclub without the champagne and the dressed-up drunks.

One thing the young Christian should be taught as quickly as possible after his conversion is that Jesus Christ is all he needs.

Sometimes I go to God and say, "God, if Thou dost never answer another prayer while I live on this earth, I will still worship Thee as long as I live and in the ages to come for what Thou hast done already. God’s already put me so far in debt that if I were to live one million millenniums I couldn’t pay Him for what He’s done for me.

Outside of the will of god, there is nothing I want. And in the will of god there is nothing I fear.

Let me never become a slave to crowds.

The man with a cross no longer controls his destiny; he lost control when he picked up his cross. That cross immediately became to him an all-absorbing interest, an overwhelming interference.
