The KEY to disciplining ourselves in the area of obedience is always keeping in mind to whom we are being obedient.

The purpose of God isn't to save us from Hell. The purpose of God is to make us like Christ.

Our mistake is that we want God to send revival on our terms. We want to get the power of God into our hands, to call it to us that it may work for us in promoting and furthering our kind of Christianity. We want still to be in charge, guiding the chariot through the religious sky in the direction we want it to go, shouting "Glory to God," but modestly accepting a share of the glory for ourselves in a nice inoffensive sort of way. We are calling on God to send fire on our altars, completely ignoring the fact that they are OUR altars and not God's.

A man by his sin may waste himself, which is to waste that which on earth is most like God. This is man's greatest tragedy and God's heaviest grief.

God answers our prayers not because we are good, but because He is good.

We Christians must simplify our lives or lose untold treasures on earth and in eternity.

The best way to prove that a stick is crooked is to set a straight one beside it. No words need to be spoken.
