Greece and the Greek people have recently had to deal with the harshest consequences of the global and European economic crisis. As an economy and as a society, we have had to experience a program of disastrous austerity which made the problems more acute instead of resolving them.

Slowly but surely, we are decreasing unemployment and we are restoring confidence to the future of the Greek economy.

Greece is a pillar of peace and security in a region where stabilization is on the growth.

Public television goes dark only in two circumstances: when a country is occupied by foreign forces or when there is a coup.

Those who believe that if someone who would want to radically change the foreign policy of a country such as the United States, which is very difficult, and often although some of us in here who may fear that this may happen, what we should be doing is build bridges, not walls.

I am interested in making sure that the people of Cyprus will be able to live in a reunited Cyprus, where they are free, where there's a democracy, freedom and Cyprus is a member of the European Union.

We need to find a fair and viable solution on the basis of U.N. resolutions and the incompatible with the fact that Cyprus is an E.U. member state.
