The task of the teacher of the Bible is to open up what’s closed, to make plain what is obscure, to unravel what is knotted and to unfold what is tightly packed.

We have taken the latter course as a culture. So there is mass confusion today--even in the evangelical church--over whether the Bible is true and over how far we should go in obeying it.

There are no freelance Christians; there is no solo-flying to heaven.

The great need is for us to be taught theologically, not just stirred emotionally.

There is an old joke that went around- it goes, in the beginning God made man in His own image, and since the fall, man has been seeking to return the compliment.

We lose our way around the Bible when we take our eyes off the Cross.
