You can do it the way you used to clear the dinner dishes when you were thirteen, or you can do it as a Japanese person would perform a tea ceremony, with a level of concentration and care in which you can lose yourself, and so in which you can find yourself.

Anne LamottI donโt know why life isnโt constructed to be seamless and safe, why we make such glaring mistakes, things fall so short of our expectations, and our hearts get broken and out kids do scary things and our parents get old and donโt always remember to put pants on before they go out for a stroll. I donโt know why itโs not more like it is in the movies, why things donโt come out neatly and lessons canโt be learned when youโre in the mood for learning them, why love and grace often come in such motley packaging.
