I do my job, and I do what Iโm paid to do and Iโm always prepared. I prepare by learning the text so well that when I show up, Iโm relaxed and the performance sort of happens. Now whether thatโs good or bad, I donโt know... Whatever I say is going to sound very egocentric and self centered anyway so Iโd better shut up.
Anthony HopkinsI don't know what acting is, but I enjoy it. I think we ask too many questions of ourselves. We make too much importance of stuff. But I do say to actors when I have taught in classes, or when I sometimes do a talk to a group. I'll say, โIf I never acted again, the world wouldn't stop, nor would it stop if I didn't stop acting. That's how important it is. I know it [seems] important when you're young. But I say, โLighten up. Don't take it all so seriously.โ All the gurus and teachers will take your money and run.
Anthony HopkinsI've always liked American actors particularly. Because that was my first impression. I was very enamoured of America when I was a kid because we were surrounded by American soldiers during the war, the accent was very strange to me, it was very exotic and very captivating.
Anthony HopkinsEvery time I try to retire, or even think of retiring from acting, my agent comes up with a script.
