I stopped playing in the Masters in 2004, I stopped playing in the Par-3 [Contest], and now it's time to end this part of my Masters career. I would love to go on doing it forever, but I don't have the physical capability to hit the shot the way I would want to hit it. So I'll have to be content to watch.
Arnold PalmerI was national amateur champion. I was 24 years old. My father was there, and I couldn't wait to see him, and my mother. I went up and was waiting for all the accolades, and my mom was teary and happy and my dad looked at me and said, "Well, boy, you did good," and that was it.
Arnold PalmerI wanted to emulate my father. I wanted to be as tough as he was. I wanted to do the things that he did. I watched him.
Arnold PalmerI am so pleased with my golf course. I am to say that it's the best I've ever seen it - without equivocation.
Arnold PalmerI never met a winner who had a work ethic. Not somebody who says I have so much talent that naturally I won.
Arnold PalmerThe fans, I loved them. My mother would be in the gallery, I would look right at my mother and not remember.
Arnold PalmerI started [flying] by being scared. When I was an amateur I played a couple tournaments and I had to fly, and got into weather and stuff, and it scared me, and I decided that would not work, I had to learn to fly, I had to find out about airplanes and aeronautical engineering and what it was all about.
