We're breaking protocol here. That's the good thing about being President - I can do whatever I want.

We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over the centuries to shape the world - including in my own country.

Even when you go up ramp, and you think about [Franklin D. Roosevelt] wheeling himself up, you know, got a little cigarette holder in his mouth, and it, that, that awe that you feel, that reverence that you feel for the place never entirely leaves.

We ask our men and women in uniform to leave their families, our guardsmen and reservists to leave their jobs. We ask you to fight, to sacrifice, to risk your lives for your country. The last thing you should have to do is fight for a job when you come home.

Our friends at the Republican convention were more than happy to talk about everything they think is wrong with America, but they didn't have much to say about how they'd make it right. They want your vote, but they don't want you to know their plan.

There are always things that I think I wish I could have done better.

Whatever decisions I make are going to be based first on a strategy to keep us safe and then we'll figure out how to resource it.
