We all have a face that we hide away forever, and we take them out and show ourselves when everyone has gone.

I'm probably writing music now for the same reason as I started writing songs when I was 14 - to meet women.

I started taking piano lessons when I was about four years old. My parents were both musicians. So I took piano lessons. I didn't like the lessons very much, but I was enchanted by music. Music always transported me somewhere. Singing made feel good and being able to play the piano made me feel good.

I'm a piano player. I never thought of myself as a singer, at all. I was always trying to sound like somebody else. I don't like my own voice, I like Ray Charles, Robert Plant, I like Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, people that have an edge in their voice.

Why should I worry, why should I care? And even when I cross that line, I got street savoire faire.
