All the girls in the industry are really all about making different the norm. Everyone really wants that to stop being a movement and start being normal. It shouldn't be a movement when someone casts a bunch of black girls, or a girl who isn't the typical size, or someone with freckles. It should be an everyday thing.
Chantelle Brown-YoungI think we need to take a step back and realize what the real issues are - it's not being from different places or being different.
Chantelle Brown-YoungI feel like I have so many amazing opportunities because of my immigrant mother, my immigrant grandparents. There are so many of us who do come from immigrants - even some people who support Trump's travel ban. I think we need to take a step back and realize what the real issues are - it's not being from different places or being different.
Chantelle Brown-YoungWe're in a time when bashing is the norm - especially on social media, where everybody's online and no one interacts face-to-face. There's a quote I found yesterday - it was hilarious: "People need to chill, like literally, we're floating in space on a giant rock we can't leave. Look at the stars or something instead of being awful." You think of floating on a rock in space as so alien, but that's exactly what we're doing.

If that means wearing a tux, if that means wearing a short dress, a floor-length dress, or whatever the case is - do what feels right to you. Try not to get in trouble though!
Chantelle Brown-YoungSome rules are there for a reason - but it's one thing to have a rule that protects and another to have rules that stifle. I've seen a lot of those articles and I thought they were unreasonable when I was in school, but they're getting a little bit out of hand now. We should embrace what makes us different, our different styles, our creativity.
