True prayer is measured by weight, not by length

There should be as much difference between the worldling and the Christian, as between hell and heaven, between destruction and eternal life.

God does not need your strength: he has more than enough of power of his own. He asks your weakness: he has none of that himself, and he is longing, therefore, to take your weakness, and use it as the instrument in his own mighty hand. Will you not yield your weakness to him, and receive his strength?

The fact is, we sometimes read Scripture, thinking of what it ought to say, rather than what it does say.

There is nothing in the law of God that will rob you of happiness; it only denies you that which would cost you sorrow.

Sorrow for sin should be the keenest sorrow; joy in the Lord should be the loftiest joy.
