You can't help but feel the energy of the audience - and if you feel they hate you that feels weird and dirty. But I would never want to take it too seriously. It's understandable that you're not going to be everyone's cup of tea. I think that's helped me survive.
Charlyne YiThe internet's weird. It's kind of harvesting the negativity. I think negativity has always been out there, but because people are hiding behind the screen, they feel able to express these hateful feelings they've maybe been keeping inside.
Charlyne YiThe idea of surprise is part of what makes something funny, or what gets a reaction. At least when I'm an audience member, after you hear a joke so many times it's not as funny because it loses its surprise or its twist. So I think funny has to do with surprise.
