I really don't think of myself as a singer. I think of myself as an entertainer, and the best place I do it is onstage.

Some years I'm the coolest thing that ever happened, and then the next year everyone's so over me, and I'm just so past my sell date.

I never read in school. I got really bad grades-D's and F's and C's in some classes, and A's and B's in other classes. In the second week of the 11th grade, I just quit. When I was in school, it was really difficult. Almost everything I learned, I had to learn by listening. My report cards always said that I was not living up to my potential.

I'm not a role model, nor have I ever tried to be a role model. The only thing about me as a role model is I've managed to stay here and be working and survive. For 40 years.

I wouldn't mind living with someone forever. I don't really want to get married. I don't see any reason for it. And yet I'm so romantic that every time I think I meet someone I want to live with them forever and ever.

To me marriage is for five or ten years
