If you have peace of mind, when you meet with problems and difficulties they wonโt disturb your inner peace. Youโll be able to employ your human intelligence more effectively. But, if your mental state is disturbed, full of emotion, it is very difficult to cope with problems, because the mind that is full of emotion is biased, unable to see reality. So whatever you do will be unrealistic and naturally fail.
Dalai LamaA calm mind is good for our physical health, but it also enables us to see things more realistically.
Dalai LamaMy message is always the same: to cultivate and practice love, kindness, compassion and tolerance.
Dalai LamaUse your human intelligence in the best way you can; transform your emotions in a positive way.
Dalai LamaThere is a common perception that compassion is, if not actually an impediment, at least irrelevant to professional life. Personally, I would argue that not only is it relevant, but that when compassion is lacking, our activities are in danger of becoming destructive. This is because when we ignore the question of the impact our actions have on others' well-being, inevitably we end up hurting them.
Dalai LamaFrom the viewpoint of absolute truth, what we feel and experience in our ordinary daily life is all delusion. Of all the various delusions, the sense of discrimination between oneself and others is the worst form, as it creates nothing but unpleasantness for both sides. If we can realize and meditate on ultimate truth, it will cleanse our impurities of mind and thus eradicate the sense of discrimination. This will help to create true love for one another. The search for ultimate truth is, therefore, vitally important.
